The lucky winners’ names have been revealed. The jury announced on Friday that two ex-aequo authors received the Nice Baie des Anges prize this year.

Thierry Vimal’s novel, published by Editions du Cherche-Midi, will be honored. Emilio, a young man whose father was killed in a terrorist attack, and his mother are the protagonists of the film.

“Through a sensitive portrait of a mother and a son who no longer share anything but pain, anger, and love, this novel questions society’s commitment to all victims and draws the limits of his compassion,” the organizers write in a press release.

David Foenkinos won the second prize for his novel, which was published by Gallimard editions. This novel picks up the story of a young actor who was considered for the role of the famous wizard Harry Potter in the movies but did not get the part.
