G7 foreign ministers pledged on Saturday to “extend” economic sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine to “sectors on which Russia is particularly reliant,” while urging China not to “undermine” the sanctions.
According to a statement released after a three-day meeting in northern Germany, the seven major economic powers want to “intensify efforts” to “end reliance on Russian energy.” They “exhort China not to aid Russia in its aggression” against Ukraine.
