Borussia Dortmund’s head coach Edin Terzic is looking forward to seeing Marco Rose again soon. Terzic smiled on Thursday about the signing of the former BVB coach by RB Leipzig, the upcoming opponent of Westphalia. “I’m pleased that Marco is back in the Bundesliga. We certainly didn’t expect to see each other again so soon,” said Terzic, who took over as coach in Dortmund in the summer after BVB separated from Rose.
Rose moved to Dortmund in 2021 from Borussia Mönchengladbach – Leipzig’s Bundesliga opponent after next. The former BVB interim coach Terzic made room for this and was technical director of Dortmund for a year. “The exchange was always very close. I think Marco is an outstanding coach and a great guy. We still get along very well,” reported Terzic.
Leipzig parted ways with Domenico Tedesco on Wednesday after the unsuccessful start to the season and hired Rose as the new coach on Thursday. RB Leipzig’s club boss Oliver Mintzlaff took the pressure off the new coach Marco Rose in view of the tough opening program. “Even if we start with two losses, I won’t talk about a crappy start in the mixed zone,” said the managing director on Thursday. With those words, Mintzlaff commented on the season opener of Domenico Tedesco, who was released on Wednesday and started with two draws. Rose’s first opponents as RB coach are Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, Real Madrid on Wednesday and finally Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Mintzlaff emphasized that he had “no expectations for the three games. We weren’t looking for a fireman, but a coach who would get the quality out of the team that it has”. They want to “get the continuity” that once distinguished the club. After all, Rose is the third coach in less than a year.
Rose took the reunion with his ex-clubs calmly. “It’s not about when the time is right for me to look good,” said the 45-year-old.
