Matignon announces that Jean Castex will remain Prime Minister until at least Monday, ahead of the government’s expected resignation at the start of next week.
According to Matignon, Prime Minister Jean Castex will travel to the Vatican on Sunday to witness the canonization of three French people, including Charles de Foucauld, delaying the government’s resignation until at least Monday.
Even if it was certain that he would lead the French delegation to the Vatican on Sunday, the question of whether he would do so as Prime Minister or as a former head of state remained.
“The Prime Minister will travel to Vatican City on Sunday to attend the canonization ceremony of ten blessed people, three of whom are French: Charles de Foucauld, César de Bus, and Marie Rivier,” Matignon Friday services said.
